This post may come to a shock to most people that know me, but I AM interested in our countries history. So....I have a question for you....

Why was Italy part of the Allied Forces in World War I, siding with the United States and in World War II, were against us?

Italy was actually aligned with Germany and Austria-Hungary at the beginning of WWI through the triple alliance. It wasn't till a year into the war that Italy was convinced to join the allies (triple entente)after being promised territory in Austria-Hungary after the war was over.

As for WWII, Italy was under the control of Mussolini, a facsist dictator determined to create an Italian empire. After the fall of France he decided to join Hitler thinking that he would be victorious and would be able to expand his empire. His army was unprepared and Italy was quickly contained.

I'm not a history buff, but I do know spelling and grammar rules. It's "country's history" not "countries history." It's possessive. Hah! Told you, didn't I?! :)

You're man is so smart!! I was going to comment that you should have just asked Michael being that he's a military man and all. And wouldn't ya know that he was the first to comment.
